Creative Social
Creative Social is an open studio session for adults who want a little time and space to work on something creative, with some good company along the way.
There’s no set project or step-by-step workshop to follow, you can bring whatever you’re currently working on, start something new, finally finish that project that’s been sitting untouched at home for six months, or simply come along and see where the day takes you.
Stay for an hour or settle in for the whole session, this is your creative time.
So, what is Creative Social?
Think less art class and more creative hangout. You might be painting, drawing, crocheting, journalling, scrapbooking, sewing, working with clay or doing something completely different to the person sitting beside you.
I’ll usually be floating around working on my own studio projects too, so if you want a second opinion, need help figuring something out or just want someone to bounce an idea off, I’m there.
Otherwise, make yourself a cuppa, find a spot at the table, have a chat and get stuck into whatever you're working on.
You don't need to be an artist
Creative Social isn't just for experienced artists or people who already have a creative practice, it’s for anyone who wants to make a little more room for creativity in their week.
Maybe you already have something you're working on, maybe you have approximately 746 unfinished projects at home, or maybe you've been wanting to try something creative but never seem to actually make the time for it.
You don't even need to know what you're going to make before you arrive. Come anyway, we'll find something for you to play with.
What should I bring?
Bring along whatever you're working on and the main materials you'll need for your project. There are basic studio supplies around and you're welcome to ask what might be available, but because everyone works on completely different things during Creative Social, it's best to bring any specific materials or tools you'll need.
And if you don't have a project yet, that's completely fine too. Bring a sketchbook, an idea, or just yourself.
Coming alone? Please do.
You absolutely don't need to round up a group of friends before coming along. Creative Social is just as much about connection as it is creativity, so coming on your own is completely normal. Find yourself a seat, meet some other creative humans and settle in.
You can spend the whole morning chatting while you create, or become completely hyperfocused on painting one tiny leaf and barely say a word.
Both are very welcome here!

You don't need to arrive at 9:30am and you definitely don't need to stay until 2pm. Creative Social is designed to be flexible, so drop in when it works for you, stay for as long as you like and head off when you're ready.
Why Creative Social exists
Somehow, creativity is often one of the first things we stop making time for. There’s always work to do, washing to fold, someone who needs something and another seventeen things we convince ourselves should come first.
Creative Social is simply a few hours where you can put some of that down, sit alongside other people doing the same and make something because you want to, not because it needs to be productive, useful or particularly impressive.
No masterpiece required.
Just make some space.

Creative Social is casual, but RSVP is required so I know roughly who to expect in the studio.
There’s no need to choose an arrival time or commit to the whole session, just let me know you’re coming, then drop in anytime between 9:30am–2pm and stay for as little or as long as you like.
