YOUNG ARTIST STUDIO
A place for young artists to explore, experiment and create.
Young Artist Studio is about so much more than learning how to paint a picture.
Our regular creative sessions give children and teens the space to explore different artists, mediums, techniques and ideas, while developing the confidence to make their own creative choices along the way.
There’s guidance, there’s learning, and there’s always something to explore… but there’s no pressure to make their artwork look exactly like mine or anyone else’s.
Because creativity isn’t one-size-fits-all.
What happens in the studio?
Across the term, our Young Artists explore a mix of creative projects and mediums including painting, watercolour, drawing, mixed media, collage, paint pens, canvas work and plenty of things that don’t fit neatly into a category.
We also explore artists from around the world, looking at their work, their techniques and what makes their style unique before using those ideas as inspiration for our own creations.
Some projects may run over several weeks, while others are light-hearted one-session challenges designed simply to get them thinking differently and having fun.
And sometimes, the original plan goes completely out the window. We’re okay with that too!
We don’t all make the same thing.
A demonstration might be the starting point, but it isn’t the destination. Young Artists are encouraged to choose their own colours, change elements, experiment with materials, follow an unexpected idea and make their artwork theirs.
There is no “mine looks different to yours” problem here. Different is kind of the point.
Who is Young Artist Studio for?
Young Artist Studio is designed for children and teens who enjoy creating, whether they already consider themselves little artists or are only beginning to discover what they like.
They don’t need to arrive knowing how to draw, they don’t need previous art experience and they certainly don’t need to be perfect. They just need to be willing to have a go.

Young Artist Studio runs during the school term from our Kentlyn studio, with session times available throughout the week.
Sessions are currently $25 per Young Artist.
Because spaces are limited, bookings are required.

Teen Creative Sessions
A little less structured. A little more social.
Our Teen Creative sessions are designed to feel more like a creative hangout than a traditional art class. There’s always something to work on, with materials and guidance available, but teens have more freedom to follow their own ideas, work at their own pace, chat and just enjoy being around other creative humans.
Teen sessions run for 1 hour 45 minutes, giving everyone time to settle in, get properly stuck into what they’re making and actually enjoy the process without watching the clock.
Come to create. Come to hang out. Come to do a bit of both!

A little note for parents
Ataris is a creative studio, not a classroom. There will be conversation. There will be movement. There will probably be paint somewhere it has absolutely no business being.
But underneath the creative chaos, we have some pretty simple expectations: kindness, respect for each other and the studio, and allowing everyone the opportunity to create safely and enjoy their time here.
